Ducks Send Ryan To AHL Portland

Press Release - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned right wing Bobby Ryan to the Portland Pirates, Anaheim?s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Ryan, 21 (3/17/87), appeared in the first two games of the Western Conference Quarterfinal series vs. the Dallas Stars, going scoreless. He played in 23 games with Anaheim during the 2007-08 regular season, scoring 5-5=10 points with six penalty minutes (PIM). Selected in the first round (second overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan had three separate stints with the Ducks in 2007-08. He made his NHL debut on Sept. 29, 2007 against Los Angeles in London, England, scoring his first career goal at the 13:09 mark of the third period.

A native of Cherry Hill, NJ, Ryan recorded 21-28=49 points with a +9 rating and 38 penalty minutes (PIM) in 48 games with the Pirates during the AHL regular season. Among team leaders, he ranked third in goals scored, tied for fifth in assists and points, and tied for second in power play goals (9). In his last 10 AHL games from Feb. 9-Mar. 2, Ryan scored 5-8=13 points, including five points on the power play.

In 2006-07, Ryan led Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in scoring for the second consecutive season. He appeared in 63 games with the Attack, collecting 43-59=102 points while finishing eighth in OHL scoring and fourth in power play goals. [READ]
