Blue Jackets Send Picard To AHL Syracuse

Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Alexandre Picard to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus? American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced today.

Picard, 22, was scoreless with two penalty minutes in three games after being added to the roster on emergency recall on Mar. 20. He has tallied seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points with 114 penalty minutes and a +6 plus/minus rating 47 games with Syracuse this season. He missed the club?s first 18 games of the season due to a knee injury he suffered with the Crunch late in the 2006-07 campaign.

Columbus? first pick, eighth overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Picard has appeared in 43 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets since the 2005-06 season, collecting 0-1-1 and 22 penalty minutes. In 2006-07, he played in a career-high 23 games with the club and notched 0-1-1 and six penalty minutes, registering his first NHL point with an assist vs. Chicago on Mar. 30, 2007. He has 33-44-77 and 239 penalty minutes in 140 career AHL games. The Les Saules, Quebec native registered 93-104-197 and 289 penalty minutes in 206 career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games from 2001-05 with Sherbrooke and Lewiston. [READ]
