Jackets Sign Nick Holden To Three-Year Contract

Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Chilliwack Bruins defenseman Nick Holden to a three-year standard entry level contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Holden, who will turn 21 on May 15, tallied 22 goals and 38 assists for 60 points with 54 penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating in 70 games with Chilliwack this season. He led all Western Hockey League defensemen in goals and ranked third in points this season while serving as the Bruins' team captain.

A 6-foot-4, 200-pound native of St. Albert, Alberta, Holden registered 30-61-91 and 116 penalty minutes in 137 career WHL games and added 2-4-6 and six penalty minutes in nine career playoff outings. He led all Chilliwack defensemen in scoring as a rookie in 2005-06 when he notched 8-23-31 and 62 penalty minutes in 67 games. Prior to joining the Bruins, he played for the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. [READ]
