Kings Send Stuart To Wings For Draft Picks

RealGM Staff Report - The Los Angeles Kings have acquired a second-round draft selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Brad Stuart, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. In addition, Lombardi announced the Kings have acquired a seventh-round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from Anaheim in exchange for goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin.

The Kings now have three selections in the second-round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft in addition to two selections in the first-round and three selections in the third-round. The Aubin trade marks the first-ever trade between the Kings and the Ducks in their 14-year cross-town rivalry.

Stuart, 28, played in 63 games with the Kings this season and had 21 points (5-16=21) and 67 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 213-pound native of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, has played in 570 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks, and has recorded 227 points (58-169=227) and 370 penalty minutes.

Aubin, 30, played in 19 games with the Kings this season, and had a record of 5-6-1, a goals-against-average of 3.19 and a save-percentage of .886. The 5-11, 180-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, has played in 218 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins, and has a record of 80-83-16 with seven shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.93 and a save-percentage of .900.
