Jackets Activate Modin Off IR; Send Methot To AHL Syracuse

RealGM Staff Report - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated left wing Fredrik Modin off injured reserve and assigned defenseman Marc Methot to the Syracuse Crunch Columbus? American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Modin is expected to return to the lineup tonight when the Blue Jackets host the Chicago Blackhawks at Nationwide Arena.

Modin has tallied two goals and two assists for four points with 10 penalty minutes in 11 games this season and has missed 47 games due to injury. The 11-year veteran has registered 207-201-408 and 375 penalty minutes in 751 career NHL games, including 22-20-42 in 79 games during his first season with the Blue Jackets in 2006-07. He is one of 18 players who has won a Stanley Cup championship (Tampa Bay, 2004), Olympic gold medal (Sweden, 2006), and World Championships gold medal (Sweden, 1998).

Methot, 22, has appeared in eight games and recorded six penalty minutes with the Blue Jackets this season. He has also tallied 2-1-3 and 52 penalty minutes in 40 games with Syracuse. Columbus? seventh pick, 168th overall in the 2003 Entry Draft, he made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets in 2006-07 and collected 0-4-4 and 12 penalty minutes with a plus/minus rating of +5 in 20 games. In 159 career AHL games, he has registered 5-27-32 and 183 penalty minutes with the Crunch. [READ]
