Selanne Will Decide On Return Soon
7th January, 2008 - 8:48 am
Los Angeles Times - The Ducks remain very interested in bringing Teemu Selanne back into the fold provided that the superstar forward is serious about returning to hockey.

Selanne has begun a skating program at Anaheim Ice to determine whether he is mentally up to playing again as he kept open that possibility by not filing retirement paperwork with the NHL.

The 37-year-old winger and 10-time All-Star, who has 540 goals, has reportedly said that he would make a decision this month. Selanne could not be reached for comment Sunday.

As he has all along, General Manager Brian Burke said he has not pressed Selanne for a timetable on when he'll make a decision. In theory, the Ducks cannot do so since he is an unrestricted free agent and beholden to no team.

"I have been clear with Teemu," Burke said. "He has to tell me he has a passion to return and play. If he does, we have great interest in bringing him back. But not unless he truly wants to return to the Ducks." [READ]
