| 1st January, 2008 - 9:56 am | Dallas Morning News - A strange rule in the collective bargaining agreement would not allow Mike Ribeiro, a potential unrestricted free agent who signed a one-year deal before the season started, to sign a contract extension with the Stars until Jan. 1.
So now, the Stars can officially sign him to a long-term deal.
Les Jackson, one of the Stars' co-general managers, said the Stars have already started negotiations with Ribeiro's agent Don Meehan.
