Blake Says Costly Meltdown Will Be Last
11th December, 2007 - 9:25 am
Los Angeles Times - A repentant Rob Blake took full responsibility for the verbal meltdown that resulted in his ejection after the first period of Saturday's Kings-Coyotes game at Staples Center and in a quick power-play goal by Phoenix in the second period.

"I probably shouldn't have said anything," Blake said Monday after the morning skate in El Segundo. "It wasn't a good decision by me, by any means. It was a combination of stuff. It's my mistake."

Referee Dan O'Halloran gave the Kings' captain a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct. Blake opted not to repeat what exactly he said.

He had been cross-checked late in the period, with no call, and took issue with the way the Coyotes were crashing the net into Kings goalie J.S. Aubin. Phoenix went on to win, 4-2.

Blake, with his minus-11 rating, has been the symbol, in some quarters, of the Kings' significant struggles this season, landing them in last place in the Western Conference. No matter what sparked his ire, Blake knew he was in the wrong on Saturday. [READ]
