Kings Activate Calder, Ivanans; Place Thornton On IR

RealGM Staff Report - The Los Angeles Kings have activated forwards Kyle Calder and Raitis Ivanans off the injured reserve list and have placed forward Scott Thornton on the injured reserve list (retroactive to November 21), Kings' President/General Manager Dean Lombardi today announced.

Calder, 28, has missed the Kings? last eight games due to a thumb injury he suffered on October 31. In 13 games with the Kings this season, his first with the team, the 5-11,180-pound native of Mannville, Alberta, has six points (3-3=6) and four penalty minutes. In 450 career NHL games he has 251 points (102-149=251) and 246 penalty minutes.

Ivanans, 28, has missed the Kings? last seven games due to a cheekbone injury he suffered on November 2. In 13 games with the Kings this season, his second with the team, the 6-3, 263-pound native of Riga, Latvia, has two points (1-1=2) and 16 penalty minutes. In 83 career NHL games he has 10 points (5-5=10) and 165 penalty minutes.

Thornton, 36, suffered a sternum injury during the Kings-Phoenix game on November 21. In 14 games with the Kings this season, his second with the team, the 6-3, 220-pound native of London, Ontario, has two points ? both goals ? and 11 penalty minutes. In 908 career NHL games he has 279 points (141-138=279) and 1,431 penalty minutes. [READ]
