Coyotes Re-Sign Matt Jones

RealGM Staff Report - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed defenseman Matt Jones to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Jones, 23, played 45 games with the Coyotes last season, registering 1-6-7 and 39 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot, 215-pound defenseman also collected 0-2-2 and 23 PIM in 24 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) last season.

In 2005-06, the Downers Grove, Illinois native played 16 games with the Coyotes, recording 0-2-2 and 14 PIM. Jones also collected 2-11-13 and 46 PIM in 59 games with the Rampage. He was named to the AHL All-Star Game, but was unable to play due to an injury. [READ]
