Jacket GM Search Heats Up

The Columbus Dispath - The Blue Jackets' search for a general manager will begin next week.

President Mike Priest said that he has "begun the process of asking other NHL clubs for permission" to speak to their employees. "We're making progress," Priest said. "But we're still early in the process."

Among the names circulating: Steve Tambellini, vice president and assistant general manager of the Vancouver Canucks; Les Jackson, assistant general manager of the Dallas Stars; Scott Howson, assistant general manager of the Edmonton Oilers, Bob Murray, vice president of hockey operations of the Anaheim Ducks; Craig Button, former general manager of the Calgary Flames; Dave Taylor, former general manager of the Los Angeles Kings, and Neil Smith, former general manager of the New York Rangers and Islanders.
