The Blackhawks hired Kevin Dineen as an assistant coach, according to an ESPN.com report on Monday.

Dineen, 50, most recently coached the Canadian women's national team to a gold medal in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. In addition to winning gold in Sochi, he led Canada's under-18 men's team to a bronze medal at the world championship in Finland in April.

He previously was the head coach of the Panthers from 2011 to 2013.
