The Stars have bought out the final year of defenseman Aaron Rome's deal, a move that will give the club more salary cap space, according to an ESPN.com report.

Under the NHL collective bargaining agreement, teams were given two amnesty buyouts that must be used by the end of the month. With Tuesday's move, the Stars will pay Rome two-thirds of the $1.6M he was set to earn next season. That money won't count against the salary cap.
