Columbus Assigns Derrick Walser

Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Derrick Walser to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Walser, 28, has appeared in three games with Columbus in 2006-07 and spent parts of three seasons with the Blue Jackets from 2001-04. He has collected 6-21-27 and 56 penalty minutes in 84 career NHL games. He has also tallied 9-25-34, 59 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 47 AHL games with the Crunch and Albany River Rats this season, including 9-24-33, 55 penalty minutes with a +10 plus/minus rating in 41 games with Syracuse. He was acquired from Carolina on November 29 in a trade that sent defenseman Mark Flood to the Hurricanes. [READ]
