 The twenty-sixth in a series of 30 articles, we will go through the history of every NHL franchise alphabetically and select an All-Time Roster for each. All stats as of November 15, 2011.
St. Louis Blues (1967-Present)
The franchise started off with a bang, making it to the Stanley Cup Finals as an expansion team despite a regular season record of 27-31-16. Legendary coach Scotty Bowman took them to three Cup Finals in a row, but they never won. There has not been much playoff success since 1970, as they have only made it past the second round three times, despite having legendary players like Brett Hull, Bernie Federko and Al MacInnis.
First Team
C: Bernie Federko (76-89): Most games (927), assists (721), points (1,073), -124; seven 30-goal/90-point seasons; 2-time All-Star; Hall of Famer; Team Captain 88-89.
W: Brett Hull (87-98): Most goals (527), power play goals (195), short handed goals (18), game winning goals (70), 2nd in points (936), -16 in 744 games; eight time 40-goal scorer, led league three times; 7-time All-Star; 1991 MVP & Ted Lindsay winner (86 goals, 131 points); Hall of Famer; Team Captain 92-95.
W: Brian Sutter (76-88): 3rd in goals (303) and points (636), 1,786 PIM, -63 in 779 games; 3-time All-Star; six time 30-goal scorer; Team Captain 79-88.
D: Al MacInnis (94-2004): Top offensive defenseman (127-325-452), +132 (2nd), 64 power play goals in 613 games; three 60-point seasons; 6-time All-Star; 1999 Norris Trophy winner (20-42-62, +33); Hall of Famer; Team Captain 2003-04.
D: Chris Pronger (95-2004): 2nd in points (356), 1st in plus/minus (+140), 931 PIM in 598 games; twice averaged 30 minutes per game; 4-time All-Star; 2000 MVP & Norris Trophy winner (62 points, +52); Team Captain 97-2003.
G: Mike Liut (79-85): Most games (347) and wins (151-133-52), 10 shutouts, 3.58 GAA, 18-22 playoff record; 1981 All-Star; 1981 Ted Lindsay winner.
Second Team
C: Garry Unger (70-79): 4th in points (575), -113, 744 PIM in 662 games; eight straight 30-goal seasons; 7-time All-Star; Team Captain 76-77.
W: Pavol Demitra (96-2004): 493 points, +99, 45 game winning goals in 494 games; scored 75+ points four times; 3-time All-Star.
W: Keith Tkachuk (2000-10): 427 points, even plus/minus, 96 power play goals in 543 games; five seasons of 25+ goals; 2-time All-Star.
D: Barclay Plager (67-77): 231 points, +58, 1,115 PIM in 614 games; finished +20 or better twice; 4-time All-Star; Team Captain 72-76.
D: Bob Plager (67-78): Most games (615), 141 points, +27, 762 PIM.
G: Curtis Joseph (89-95): 2nd most games (280) and wins (137-96-45), 3.04 GAA, 5 shutouts, .907 SV%, 16-15 playoff record; 1994 All-Star.
Third Team
C: Adam Oates (89-91): 228 assists and 286 points in only 195 games, +20; 2-time All-Star.
W: Brendan Shanahan (91-95): 156-150-306, +5, 692 PIM in 277 games; two-time 50-goal scorer; 1994 All-Star.
W: Joe Mullen (81-86): 151-184-335, -4 in 301 games; two 40-goal seasons.
D: Rob Ramage (82-88): 3rd in points (296), -41, 898 PIM in 441 games; 3-time All-Star.
D: Jeff Brown (89-94): 4th in points (294), -19 in 329 games; two 20-goal seasons.
G: Grant Fuhr (95-99): Most shutouts (11), 108-87-45, 2.68 GAA, .900 SV%, 15-14 playoff record.
