The most recent addition to the league-leading Nashville Predators, all-star center Peter Forsberg, recently announced he would play without pads for the entirety of the 2007 playoffs.

?I woke up one morning and said to myself, I can play this game without pads,? explained Mr. Forsberg. ?They are slowing me down out there; just imagine how much faster I could skate without them.?

NHL league officials are currently reviewing the rules in order to make sure Mr. Forsberg?s gimmick is legal. Preliminary reports say that the request will be granted by the NHL commissioner?s office.

With that hurdle overcome, it will be up to the Nashville Predators organization to put the stamp of approval that would allow their prized center to play without pads.

When asked whether Forsberg would be allowed to play the 2007 playoffs without pads, team owner Craig Leipold was brief in his response:

?Oh no, absolutely not.?

When asked why there are so many hockey teams located in hot, swampy climates, Mr. Leipold had no comment.
