When the initial Puck Possession Rating was released after the first month of the season, the list was quite surprising. A couple of rookies appeared in the top-five despite not entering the season with the expectation of challenging for any year-end recognition.

The current list is more of what we all expected, with star power at the top. Jonathan Toews, who finished third last season, has moved into the top spot, up from 15th. Pavel Datsyuk sits behind him, up from 20th. Marian Hossa is in third, up from 13th. Anze Kopitar was previously #1, but he has dropped all the way to #44.

The top defenseman in the PPR thus far are Predators captain Shea Weber, while the top rookie is Devils center Adam Henrique, who sits 24th.
