Flames Acquire Michael Stone From Coyotes For Two Draft Picks

The Flames have acquired defenseman Michael Stone from the Coyotes in exchange for a third-round draft pick and a conditional fifth-round pick.

The Coyotes retain half of Stone's salary and cap hit, sources told ESPN. Stone is a pending unrestricted free agent on July 1, and if he re-signs with Calgary, the Coyotes get the fifth-round pick in 2018. The third-round pick is in the 2017 draft.

Stone, 26, has one goal and nine assists in 45 games this season.

Coyotes Claim Burmistrov Off Waivers From Jets

Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have claimed center Alexander Burmistrov off waivers from the Jets.

"We are pleased to acquire Alexander through the waiver process," said Chayka. "He's someone our scouts identified as having greater potential than he has currently shown. We're hopeful a change will help his game."

Burmistrov has collected two assists in 23 games with the Jets this season and has registered 30-51-81 in 298 career NHL games

Former NHL forward Steve Downie went on a lengthy Twitter rant Friday night, taking aim at hockey commentator Don Cherry and the Arizona Coyotes.

Downie, who played parts of eight seasons in the NHL, criticized the culture of violence that he believes Cherry perpetuates through his "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em" series of videos.

The Arizona Coyotes acquired center Peter Holland from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday for a 2018 conditional draft choice.

The 25-year-old Holland had an assist in eight games with Toronto this season. He has 30 goals and 40 assists in 203 NHL games with Toronto and Anaheim.

Coyotes Complete Deal For New Arena

After years of looking for a new home in the desert, the Arizona Coyotes will announce Monday afternoon that they have completed a deal for a new arena in the East Valley area south and east of Phoenix and Scottsdale that includes Tempe and Mesa, sources close to the deal told Monday.

Further details of a new 16,000-plus-seat arena that is expected to be ready for the start of the 2019-20 season will be revealed at a news conference set for 1 p.m. EST.

Tobias Rieder To Skip Coyotes Training Camp

Coyotes forward Tobias Rieder does not plan to join the team for training camp as he awaits a new contract, according to his agent, Darren Ferris.

"We've made them a fair offer at two years at $2.5 million a year, and they're unwilling to do it," Ferris said, according to AZCentral. "Tobi brings a lot of intangibles to that team. I know he's a fan favorite. He loves Arizona, but it's disappointing that they're unwilling to compensate this kid fairly."

Ferris said that the sides aren't far apart, but a deal is not considered imminent.

Panthers Trade Dave Bolland, Lawson Crouse To Coyotes For Draft Picks

The Panthers have cleared up salary-cap space by sending injured center Dave Bolland and prospect Lawson Crouse to the Coyotes in exchange for a conditional second-round pick and a third-round pick, according to an NHL source.

Bolland has three years remaining on a contract that pays him $5.5 million per season and likely will be placed on long-term injured reserve by the Coyotes.

Crouse, one of the Panthers' top prospects, was the 11th overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft.

The Arizona Coyotes signed right wing Radim Vrbata to a one-year contract on Monday, according to ESPN.

Vrbata, an unrestricted free agent, will have a base salary of $1 million.

Vrbata, 35, spent the past two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. He had 13 goals and 14 assists in 63 games last season.
