Stars Bringing Back Ken Hitchcock To Coach

The Stars are bringing Ken Hitchcock back for a second tour of duty.

The official announcement isn't expected until Thursday, but sources confirmed to ESPN that the veteran bench boss will be unveiled as the Stars' next head coach.

Hitchcock, 65, coached for parts of seven seasons in Dallas, leading the Stars to their lone Stanley Cup championship in 1999. He will replace Lindy Ruff, who was fired Monday after the Stars missed the playoffs this season.

Stars Part Ways With Coach Lindy Ruff

The Stars parted ways with Lindy Ruff on Sunday, a move that was largely expected with the coach's contract expiring.

"I want to personally thank Lindy for his commitment and professionalism over the four years that he served as our head coach in Dallas," Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a statement. "Lindy is not only a highly respected coach, he more importantly is a great person and an outstanding family man whom I have the utmost respect for on and off the ice."

Hawks Send McNeill To Stars For Oduya

The Chicago Blackhawks are reuniting with veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya, who was part of their last two Stanley Cup championships.

Oduya was traded by the Dallas Stars to the Blackhawks on Tuesday night in exchange for young forward Mark McNeill and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2018 NHL draft.

Brad Richards Retires After 15 NHL Seasons

Longtime NHL center Brad Richards has retired after 15 seasons in the league, the NHL Players' Association announced Wednesday.

Richards made stops with the Lightning, Stars, Rangers, Blackhawks and Red Wings. A 2011 All-Star, he collected 298 goals and 634 assists in his 15 seasons.
