Tobias Rieder To Skip Coyotes Training Camp

Sep 28, 2016 6:06 PM

Coyotes forward Tobias Rieder does not plan to join the team for training camp as he awaits a new contract, according to his agent, Darren Ferris.

"We've made them a fair offer at two years at $2.5 million a year, and they're unwilling to do it," Ferris said, according to AZCentral. "Tobi brings a lot of intangibles to that team. I know he's a fan favorite. He loves Arizona, but it's disappointing that they're unwilling to compensate this kid fairly."

Ferris said that the sides aren't far apart, but a deal is not considered imminent.

USA Loses To Czech Republic, Finish Seventh In World Cup

Sep 25, 2016 1:54 AM

Left with nothing play for at the World Cup of Hockey, USA coach John Tortorella told his players to play a game for themselves.

They played hard, gave effort in a meaningless round-robin finale but still lost 4-3 to the Czech Republic on Thursday night. With an 0-3-0 record and a minus-6 goal differential, the U.S. finished seventh among eight teams, ahead of only Finland.

"The bottom line is we leave here with nothing," Tortorella said. "Certainly we can't be happy about that."
