Devils Trade Larsson To Oilers For Hall

The Devils finally have a goal scorer, and this one is coming to New Jersey with a chip on his shoulder after a surprising trade.

The Devils on Wednesday acquired former No. 1 overall pick Taylor Hall in a trade with the Oilers.

In exchange for Hall, the Devils sent defenseman Adam Larsson to Edmonton.

An emotional Hall admitted the move caught him off guard after dealing with six losing seasons in Edmonton.

Steven Stamkos Signs New Eight-Year Deal With Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed their star captain Steven Stamkos to an eight-year deal Wednesday, keeping him off the market two days before free agency begins.

"I am excited to move forward with the Lightning today for the next eight years," Stamkos said in a statement. "It's not often that a player gets the chance to spend his career in one organization and I am hopeful that this agreement sets me on that path with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Most importantly, I look forward to working with my teammates, coaches and our management in our pursuit of winning a Stanley Cup."

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has acquired Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban from the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Shea Weber.

“P.K. Subban is an elite offensive defenseman with tremendous skill and contagious energy that makes the Nashville Predators a better team now and into the future,” Poile said. “Superstar defensemen of his caliber are a rare commodity, and we are thrilled to add him to the organization.”

The NHL fined the Canucks $50,000 on Tuesday for GM Jim Benning's recent comments expressing interest on players currently under contract with other teams.

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement that Benning violated "NHL By-Law 15 relating to inappropriate public comments by speaking generally to his club's potential interest in players under contract to other NHL clubs.

The Sabres made a big splash before the final day of the NHL draft got underway Saturday morning, acquiring top-four defenseman Dmitry Kulikov from the Panthers.

The Panthers' first-round pick in the 2009 draft, Kulikov has one year left on his contract and is set to make $4.5 million next season. He had one goal and 17 points in 73 games last year. Overall, Kulikov has 28 goals and 138 points in 460 career games.
