Blues Invite Scott Gomez To Camp For Tryout

The Blues have invited forward Scott Gomez to training camp for a tryout, according to an ESPN.com report.

The 35-year-old Gomez is a 15-year veteran for the Devils, the Rangers, Canadiens, Sharks and Panthers. Last season he had 34 points, seven goals and 27 assists, in 58 games with the Devils.

Kings Sign Russian Damir Sharipzyanov To Entry Deal

The Kings have signed defenseman Damir Sharipzyanov to a three-year entry-level contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The 19-year-old Sharipzyanov is a native of Nizhnekamsk, Russia who appeared in 66 regular-season games last season with Owen Sound (OHL) where he registered 34 points (9-25=34), a plus-13 rating and 59 penalty minutes. In five postseason games he posted three points (1-2=3), a plus-1 rating and six penalty minutes.

Sharipzyanov has appeared in 133 regular-season games in two seasons with Owen Sound totaling 50 points (14-36=50), a plus-15 rating and 124 penalty minutes. In 10 career postseason games he has registered four points (1-3=4) and six penalty minutes.

The deal will pay Giordano $6.75 million per season, a source told ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

Report: Patrick Kane Meets With Investigators

Patrick Kane has met with investigators as part of the rape allegations against the Blackhawks star, the Buffalo News reported.

According to the newspaper, which cited a source, Kane met with an investigator from the Erie County District Attorney's Office. A second source told the News that Kane met with both an investigator and a detective from the Hamburg (New York) Police Department.

Russia Fined For Snubbing Canada's Celebration

The Russian Hockey Federation was fined Monday over the national team snubbing Canada's victory celebration after the world championship final.

The IIHF said the Russian players deliberately left the ice before Canada's national anthem was played after a signal from captain Ilya Kovachuk.

The Russian federation had said its players had been confused after the rinkside gate was left open and took that as a signal to leave following the 6-1 loss in May in Prague.
