Tampa Bay Deals Thompson To Ducks For Pair Of 2015 Picks

The Lightning have acquired fourth and seventh-round draft picks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft from the Ducks in exchange for forward Nate Thompson, vice president and GM Steve Yzerman announced today.
 
Thompson played in 305 games with the Lightning after being claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay on January 21, 2010.  During his career with the Lightning he registered 36 goals and 75 points.  He has played in 22 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, all with Tampa Bay in 2011 and 2014, and recorded a goal with four points.  Thompson has played in 391 career NHL games with the Lightning, Islanders and Bruins. He has registered 39 goals and 85 points with 199 penalty minutes.

Lightning Send Gagner, Crombeen To Coyotes For 2015 Pick

The Lightning have acquired a sixth-round pick at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft from the Coyotes in exchange for forwards Sam Gagner and B.J. Crombeen, vice president and GM Steve Yzerman announced.
 
The Lightning acquired Gagner this evening from the Oilers.  Crombeen played in 99 games with Tampa Bay during two seasons, recording four goals and 18 points.

Bolts Trade Purcell To Oilers For Gagner

The Lightning have traded forward Teddy Purcell to the Oilers in exchange for forward Sam Gagner, vice president and GM Steve Yzerman announced tonight.
 
Gagner has played in 481 career games with Edmonton, recording 101 goals and 295 points.  He was drafted first overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
 
Purcell has played in 310 games with the Lightning since being acquired from the Kings on March 3, 2010. During his career in Tampa Bay he accumulated 67 goals and 203 points.  Purcell also played in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Bolts, recording seven goals and 18 points.

Canucks Trade Kesler To Ducks For Two Players, Draft Pick

The Canucks have traded center Ryan Kesler to the Ducks on Friday for two players and a pick.

The Ducks delivered center Nick Bonino and defenseman Luca Sbisa, as well as the 24th overall pick in this year's draft, which the Canucks used to take center Jared McCann from Sault Ste. Marie of the OHL.

Panthers Select Aaron Ekblad With First Pick

With the first pick of the NHL draft, the Panthers went with 15 seconds of dramatic pause before announcing Aaron Ekblad's name.

The silence felt much longer for Ekblad.

"I was just sitting there just kind of scared and excited at the same time," he said.

At last, general manager Dale Tallon made the call for Ekblad, selecting the defenseman with the first pick Friday night.

Report: Kane, Toews Seeking $12M Per Year

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are reportedly seeking $12M per year, almost double their current salaries, which would set a new standard among NHL players.

TSN reported Thursday that the request from the Blackhawks' stars, who are both represented by agent Pat Brisson, is only a starting point for negotiations.

Kane and Toews are eligible to sign extensions on Tuesday for the 2015-16 season.
