Oilers Lose 13th Straight, One Shy Of Record

Sep 14, 2014 7:34 PM

The Oilers dropped their 13th consecutive game on Saturday, losing 6-1 to the Flames. Edmonton's franchise record is fourteen straight losses. "You get down, you don't like what's going on. You start feeling sorry for yourselves. All of those emotions come to play and that's when it's hard to fight," Edmonton coach Pat Quinn said. "It sounds trite, but it's absolutely true. If you get afraid of the end result then you don't do the things you need to do and when you don't do them, you don't have a chance."

Hawks Try To Move Past Limo Photos

Sep 22, 2014 8:55 PM

The Blackhawks have addressed a series of photos showing three of their players shirtless in a limo with two unidentified women. Patrick Kane, John Madden and Kris Versteeg were in the photos that were taken in Vancouver and have been circulating the Web. "It's not the way we want to represent the team, but it's been discussed internally [with the team]," Kane said Thursday. "It's been figured out inside this locker room. "We've had the support of most of the team, and like I said, it's been handled inside that locker room. That's all we really care about in here, and we are focused on the game tonight." Kane said the photos were taken after the Hawks played in Vancouver last Saturday night.

Rogge: Olympics Are Good For NHL

Jul 11, 2014 9:34 AM

Jacques Rogge, the president of the International Olympic Committee, says the NHL should realize that sending its players to the Olympics raises the league's exposure and increases its fan base. "I think it's important for the Olympic Games to have the NHL," Rogge said Thursday. "That goes without saying. "But also I think it's important for the NHL to have their stars shine in the Olympic Games. If you look at the audience of the final of the Olympic hockey tournament, it matches the final of the Stanley Cup. That is a good promotion for hockey in North America." NHL players will participate in the Vancouver Winter Olympics, which open Feb. 12. However, the league has not decided if it will allow its players to compete at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia.
