Kings Recall Stephenson From AHL Manchester
The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forward Shay Stephenson (under emergency conditions) from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Stephenson, 23, has 14 points (7-7=14), one power play goal, 51 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 40 games with the Monarchs this season. The 6-4, 200-pound native of Outlook, Saskatchewan, was selected by Carolina in the seventh-round (198th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and was originally selected by Edmonton in the ninth-round (278th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Stephenson, who has not played in the NHL, will wear jersey No. 22 with the Kings.
Blues' Rucinsky Out Indefinitely Following Hip Surgery
Blues forward Martin Rucinsky is out indefinitely following hip surgery.
The St. Louis forward, who missed eight games because of the injury, had a torn labrum in his left hip repaired. Rucinsky, injured Feb. 6 against Toronto, will be evaluated again in the next week.
Columbus Recalls Konopka
The Columbus Blue Jackets have added forward Zenon Konopka to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.
Konopka, 26, registered 20 penalty minutes in three games with Columbus after being acquired in a trade from Anaheim on January 26. He has 13-26-39 with 123 penalty minutes and is +20 in 48 AHL games this season with the Crunch and Portland Pirates. In 272 career AHL games, he has collected 77-134-211 with 828 penalty minutes and is +54.
Coyotes' Roenick Mulls Retirement
The Coyotes were among the most active teams at the NHL trade deadline Tuesday, but Jeremy Roenick was more concerned about a deal they didn't make.
The veteran forward had hoped to be dealt to a team in a playoff position. Now that he hasn't, he is thinking about calling it quits.
Islanders Acquire Smyth From Oilers
The Islanders obtained a premier player, but they paid a hefty price to get him.
Fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the Islanders on Tuesday acquired left wing Ryan Smyth from the Oilers for prospects Robert Nilsson and Ryan O'Marra, as well as their first-round pick in this June's draft.
Oilers Retire Messier's No. 11
Mark Messier skated onto the ice at Rexall Place in full equipment and hoisted the Stanley Cup for a crowd that seemed to cherish him more than ever.
After his No. 11 jersey had been raised to the ceiling on Tuesday, Messier took a final lap of the ice in the old building where he helped turn the Edmonton Oilers into a dynasty. The sold-out crowd roared loud enough to shake the arena.
Leafs Extend Darcy Tucker
John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the club has signed forward Darcy Tucker to a four-year contract. In keeping with club policy, financial details of the contract were not disclosed. Tucker would have become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

Ferguson said. ?He has been a big contributor in so many ways for many years now, both on and off the ice. Bertuzzi Traded To Red Wings
Injured Florida Panthers right wing Todd Bertuzzi has been traded to the Detroit Red Wings for forward Shawn Matthias and two conditional draft picks.
Bertuzzi has played in just seven games this season, but it is being reported he will be ready before the playoffs.
Perreault Sent To Toronto
Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Brendan Bell and a 2nd round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for center Yanic Perreault and a 5th round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Bell, 23, registered 1-4-5 and 19 penalty minutes (PIM) in 31 games played with Toronto this season. In 2005-06, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario played 1 game for Toronto and 70 games with the American Hockey League?s Toronto Marlies, recording 6-37-43 and 99 PIM.
In 2 seasons with the Maple Leafs, Bell has registered 1-4-5 and 19 PIM in 32 career games. Bell was selected by Toronto in the 3rd round (65th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Jaroslav Modry, a first-round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, a second-round choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, a third-round draft choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and the rights to defenseman Johan Fransson from the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenseman Mattias Norstrom, right wing Konstantin Pushkarev, a third-round draft choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round draft choice in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
