Rangers Reassign Lampan To Hartford

Nov 13, 2014 7:52 AM

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Bryce Lampman has been reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). Lampman, 24, has appeared in 28 games with Hartford this season, registering three goals and five assists for eight points, along with a plus-four rating and 36 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 205-pound defenseman did not dress in each of the last two games after being recalled by the Rangers from Hartford on December 26. In 2005-06, Lampman suffered a dislocated left shoulder on November 20 against Portland and was forced to miss a majority of the season. Prior to the injury, he collected two goals and three assists in 11 games with the Wolf Pack.

Martinek Out Four Weeks

Oct 15, 2014 11:21 AM

New York Islanders defenseman Radek Martinek will be out of the lineup for four weeks due to a broken bone in his foot. Martinek, one of New York's top defensemen this season, was injured Tuesday night during the Islanders' victory over the Rangers. He finished that game and then played the following night in a loss at Ottawa. "Radek has been a warrior for us, maybe our most consistent defenceman," Islanders coach Ted Nolan said in a release Saturday. "It says a lot about him that he continued to play during the Rangers game and the whole game the next night in Ottawa because he didn't want to take himself out of the lineup. "But this is the right thing for him. As much as we'll miss Radek, and we know how much he hates being out, we look forward to getting Radek back at 100 per cent." The 30-year-old Martinek is in his fifth NHL season, all with the Islanders. He had two goals and 11 assists with a plus-15 rating, tops among the team's defencemen, while playing in New York's first 36 games.

Flyers And Blackhawks Could Deal

Sep 21, 2014 6:49 PM

The Flyers' Dave Brown, director of player personnel, and Chris Pryor, director of hockey operations, were in Chicago scouting the Blackhawks' game against Dallas on Tuesday. It was "nothing, really," general manager Paul Holmgren said. For Brown, "it was a scheduled trip, and for Chris, he's trying to catch up with everybody. He has not seen a lot of pro games in a while." But Blackhawks assistant general manager Rick Dudley was in Tampa scouting the Flyers on Thursday. It's no secret around the NHL that if the Flyers could reverse the deal that brought Kyle Calder to Philadelphia for Michal Handzus, they would, even though Handzus is out for the season with a knee injury.

Rangers Lose 7th Straight

Nov 13, 2014 7:52 AM

The Rangers lost 1-0 on Friday to Ottawa, their seventh straight loss. "It doesn't make you feel a whole lot better to say we're playing better," said Brendan Shanahan. "At this point I wouldn't care if we went out and played horrible and won. "We're at the point where sick of it. Sick of hearing about it, sick of not getting results and it's not going to go away until we win."

Trades Coming For Lightning?

Oct 26, 2014 11:06 PM

Tampa Bay general manager Jay Feaster said other teams had "tire-kicking" interest in recent trade discussions involving both Dmitry Afanasenkov and Andreas Karlsson, but none were willing to trade assets. Feaster acknowledged that losing one or both to another team without compensation is a legitimate possibility, though if both players clear waivers they will not necessarily be sent to the minor leagues. "If they clear and we are healthy, they will still be with us," Feaster said. "It's a situation where by not being able to get a deal done right now in order to clear cap space, this is another tool that we have available to create some flexibility."
