In the fourth of a series of 30 articles, we will go through the history of every NHL franchise alphabetically and select an All-Time Roster for each. Buffalo Sabres (1970-Present) The storied Buffalo franchise has featured eight Hall of Famers, the famed French Connection of Gilbert Perreault, Richard Martin and Rene Robert, questionable ownership decisions, and countless uniform changes. One element the franchise has not enjoyed is a Stanley Cup, despite three trips to the Finals, one Presidents Trophy, and six Division titles. First Team C: Gilbert Perreault (70-87): Most points (1,326) and games (1,191) in franchise history; 6-time All-Star; 1971 Calder winner, 1973 Lady Byng winner; 103 playoff points in 90 games; Hall of Famer. W: Richard Martin (86-96): 344 goals, 590 points, +138 in 525 games; 5-time All-Star; Hall of Famer. W: Dave Andreychuk (82-93, 00-01): 2nd-most points (804 in 837 games) in franchise history; 1990 All-Star; seven seasons with 30+ goals. D: Phil Housley (82-90): Highest scoring defenseman in franchise history (558 points in 608 games); 3-time All-Star. D: Mike Ramsey (79-93): First among defensemen in games (911), second in points (329), third in plus/minus (+181); 4-time All-Star. G: Dominik Hasek (92-2001): 234-170-86, 2.22 GAA, .926 SV%, 55 shutouts, 491GP; 2-time MVP, 6-time Vezina winner; 5-time All-Star. Second Team C: Pat Lafontaine (91-97): 385 points in 268 games; 2-time All-Star; 1995 Bill Masterton winner; 3-time 40+ goal scorer; Hall of Famer. W: Rene Robert (72-79): 552 points in 524 games; 2-time All-Star; 22 playoff goals in 47 games. W: Daniel Gare (74-81): 500 points in 503 games, +190; 2-time All-Star; 2-time 50+ goal scorer, 3-time 30+ goal scorer. D: Alexei Zhitnik (94-2004): 289 points in 712 games; 2-time All-Star. D: Doug Bodger (88-95): 287 points in 479 career games. G: Ryan Miller (2002-Present): 221-126-42, 2.57 GAA, .915 SV%, 22 shutouts, 399GP; 2010 Vezina winner; 2007 All-Star. Third Team C: Dale Hawerchuk (90-95): 385 points in 342 games; four straight years with 86+ points; Hall of Famer. W: Craig Ramsay (71-85): Second in games played (1,070), fourth in points (672), +328; 1976 All-Star; 1985 Selke winner. W: Alexander Mogilny (89-95): 444 points in 381 games; 3-time All-Star; scored 76 goals in 77 games in 1992-93. D: Gerald Korab (73-80): 283 points, +77 in 537 games; 2-time All-Star. D: William Hajt (73-87): 244 points, +321 in 537 games; seven seasons with +30 or more. G: Donald Edwards (76-82): 156-83-61, 2.90 GAA, 14 shutouts; 1980 Vezina winner; 2-time All-Star. Coaches Lindy Ruff (97-Present): 526-390-150, 1999 Stanley Cup finalist, 2006 Jack Adams winner. Scotty Bowman (79-80, 82-86): 192-127-53, 2-time Jack Adams winner.
