By Nick Obergan At the All-Star break we had Evgeni Malkin, Erik Karlsson and Jonathan Quick leading their respective positions. Through February, Malkin and Karlsson are still leading by a fair margin, and do not look like they will drop before the season is over. Previously we mentioned that John Tavares was making a surprising surge after starting the season 45th; he is now sitting in second place, jumping from fourth. Marian Hossa dropped from second to third, while Steven Stamkos jumped from ninth to fourth. Defensively, the top four were unchanged, with Shea Weber, Alexander Edler and Zdeno Chara slotting behind Karlsson, who is running far, far away with the defensive scoring lead, averaging more than a point per game and sitting tied for sixth in the entire NHL with 66 points. In net, Pekka Rinne has ridden a heavy workload (league high 57 games played) to take over the lead, with Vezina-favorite Henrik Lundqvist and Jonathan Quick not far behind him.
